Angelina Jolie is set to be honored with the TIFF Tribute Award for Impact Media at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, celebrating her remarkable contributions to both film and humanitarian efforts.

The Oscar-winning actress will be presented with the award on September 8 during the TIFF fundraiser, according to Variety. This accolade, recognizing outstanding achievements in cinema and social advocacy, will be handed out by Anne-Marie Canning. Past recipients include renowned figures like Pedro Almodóvar, Mira Nair, and Alanis Obomsawin.

Jolie will share the spotlight with other notable honorees such as Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Durga Chew-Bose, David Cronenberg, Clément Ducol, Camille, Jharrel Jerome, Mike Leigh, and Zhao Tao. Sandra Oh will serve as the inaugural Honorary Chair for the fundraising gala.

TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey praised Jolie’s dual impact on entertainment and global issues, saying, “Angelina Jolie is a multifaceted talent who has entertained audiences for decades while consistently using her platform to champion important causes. We’re thrilled to present her with the 2024 TIFF Tribute Award in Impact Media for her exceptional achievements in filmmaking and her dedication to positive change.”

In addition to receiving the award, Jolie’s latest film, Without Blood, will make its world premiere at TIFF. She wrote, directed, and produced the war drama, which is based on the novel by Alessandro Baricco. The film, starring Salma Hayek Pinault and Demián Bichir, follows a girl’s journey for revenge and healing amid conflict.

This year’s festival will mark Jolie’s return to TIFF, following the success of her previous films First They Killed My Father and The Breadwinner, both of which were featured at the festival in 2017.
