Barry Keoghan Joins Cillian Murphy and Rebecca Ferguson in Upcoming Peaky Blinders Movie
Oscar-nominated actor Barry Keoghan is set to join the cast of Netflix’s eagerly awaited Peaky Blinders movie, Deadline reports. Known for his roles in The Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn, Keoghan will star alongside series lead Cillian Murphy and new cast member Rebecca Ferguson.
The specifics of Keoghan’s role are being kept a secret, just like Ferguson’s. The film, which Netflix greenlit in June, will see Murphy reprising his iconic role as Tommy Shelby, the head of the notorious Birmingham gang.
The movie will be written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, who is also producing the film alongside Caryn Mandabach, Murphy, and Guy Heeley. The executive producers are Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason, with BBC Film also involved in the project.
Although details are scarce, Knight has hinted that the film will be set during World War II. Production is expected to begin later this year.
Keoghan, who earned an Oscar nomination and a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for The Banshees of Inisherin, starred in Saltburn last year, earning BAFTA and Golden Globe nods. His performance, especially a memorable ‘bath water’ scene, went viral on social media.
He began 2024 with the Apple TV+ series Masters of the Air and his upcoming film Bring Them Down will premiere at TIFF on September 9. Keoghan also has projects lined up with Trey Edward Shults, Jenna Ortega, and will star alongside Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo in the adaptation of Crime 101. Additionally, he has been making headlines for his rumored relationship with Sabrina Carpenter.
