In a passionate Independence Day speech on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi championed the idea of ‘One Nation, One Election,’ urging political parties to come together to make it a reality. He argued that the frequent cycle of elections is slowing down the country’s progress.

Speaking from the Red Fort on India’s 78th Independence Day, Modi emphasized that ongoing discussions and a detailed report from a committee have shown that regular elections are becoming a hindrance. “Every few months, there’s a new election, which ties every task and project to electoral cycles,” Modi pointed out. “This is stopping our nation from moving forward.”

The prime minister called for a united effort to implement ‘One Nation, One Election,’ stressing that it is crucial for the country’s development. He urged all political parties to put aside differences and work together, inspired by the spirit of the Red Fort and the national flag. Modi also highlighted the need to use national resources wisely for the benefit of all citizens.

The ‘One Nation, One Election’ concept is a key promise in the BJP’s Lok Sabha election manifesto and aims to streamline the electoral process to boost national progress.
